The PAFOD Regional Development Office welcomes you to this new website—your website! This site is a repository of events, information, documents and activities pertaining to disability issues and occurring within the African Region. Its objectives include facilitating the exchange of information and strengthening communication between all National Assemblies, across the five sub regions and with our other international partners.

This priority of establishing a strong network has gained renewed importance as we are in the second half of this African Decade of People with Disabilities (1999-2009). There is still much to be accomplished in the way of disability rights within Africa, and the only way to achieve true equalization of opportunity is to work together as one united force.

Our hope is that this website may provide a focal point for information acquisition and dissemination; however, this goal will only be accomplished with your contributions of local events, regional news and successes and challenges. You can also participate in the web forum with regards to the African Decade, the UN Convention, the Regional Assembly and your personal stories by providing your opinions, concerns and comments.
